Yeah I didn't like their regional groupings either, but it's one of the more comprehensive studies I've seen on the subject of mature forest blocks and total area in the US. They also included a different set of regions like pic rel which conforms to more traditional regions (like the south, and core SW US). Also keep in mind mature forest is not the same as old growth on these maps, most of the area is just mature stands (~70-150 years old for deciduous, ~100-250 years old for conifer).

Let me tell you, it was not cool.

I lived in Los Angeles during the Northridge earthquake and yeah, that was quite the experience. Not only was there zero warning, but the aftershocks, some significant, went on for weeks. At least I was at home, in bed, when it happened. People out driving around, thankfully not many, had bridges collapse under them. What a crazy way to end up suddenly dead.

The brown areas on that map are responsible for literally 88% of all agricultural production in the UK, half of which is just in the deep brown areas alone. You don't need a lot of rainfall for agriculture, especially in oceanic temperate and montane temperate environments where the annual evaporation rate is really low.
Anonymous No.2832584 [Report] >>2832623
>>2832583
Also another fun UK fact, is that the land area of the UK is insufficient to support a population of 69 million people even with over 70% of its total land area dedicated to agriculture, thus it ends up importing around 40% of its total food product to sustain itself. And even worse, its population is growing by between 0.5 and 1 million people a year (mostly due to foreigner immigrants).
