What'd you do outside today?
I went out to my Granny's and cut down weeds, trimmed low-hanging tree branches, disposed of all that debris, brought her trash can in, and got her mail.

For my efforts, I got a cold Sprite and a heartfelt thank you. Also a cut on my leg and some poison oak on my wrist.

Feels pretty good. What'd you do today?

I miss walking over to my grandparents to do work around their farm. They had these Star Ailanthus trees that would keep growing over from the railroad tracks so my grandmaw would have me come over and cut them down. Lots of fun because while they're fast growing, they aren't dense at all so you can chop and break clear through ones that are even a few inches in diameter. She died a few years ago and I miss being able to be home to do that for her.

I brushed a trail and cleared some trees. I couldn't do it for long so I'm happy there was little to do. Its so goddamn hot. I also talked to a guy trying to hunt rabbits. For my efforts I also got poison oak on my wrist.

I hiked 14 miles in a national park. Not sure why you're bragging about doing yardwork but ok.

You have to remember that, for 99% of this board, stepping out their front door is a struggle.

It's not a board for people who go outdoors - it's a board for people to talk about the outdoors.

Not a brag about the yardwork itself, more about being productive and helping Gran out.

>tfw I was 12 years old and my grandmother lived across the street, and during winter it was my job to shovel her walkways and porch for her, and one day we had a massive blizzard that dumped waist-deep snow in about 16 hours and I stayed in playing video games all day rather than shovel her porch and walk, thinking I would get to it the next day
>she was found dead late that night by a neighbor, having fallen and frozen to death trying to shovel her walkways

it's only partially a joke.
>the lie part:
It wasn't me this happened to
>the truth part:
It happened to my friend's wife, exactly as told. It's a fucking wilde story. The whole family has been doing mental gymnastics for years to absolve her of the blame and guilt, basically they've convinced themselves it was all grandma's fault nobody else bears any responsibility

Today is Friday. I worked my job. I'm going out to my land tomorrow to work on some bow blinds for the upcoming season. Might get in some bass fishing in at the pond as well.

dang, his youtube channel is pretty cool. bought a big property in like New Brunswick or something with his own pond, vast tracts of land, abandoned houses and sheds and a bunch of old school buses. It's kind of dream project property.

You sound like you have a similar situation which is great. Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks man. My setup is a little different, I expect. It's only 100 acres and doesn't have any cool shit like old houses or busses. Just a bunch of post oak and mesquite woods.

Not going to lie, it is a nice setup. Roughly half of it we don't even go into because there's a ton of deer and wild pigs living in it and we don't want to spook them where they bed down. It's got a spring-fed pond that's about 1 to 2 acres in size and always has a good supply of bass and perch.

Think it through. Could the old lady have waited a day for her sidewalk to be cleared? Yes. It didn't need to be done right away, least of all by her.

Depends. Was her power out due to that snowstorm? If so, shoveling her way out mightve been an attempt at survival. Old people don't have the most common sense at the best of times, much less in an emergency.

yesterday:
>prepped and applied a thick coat of outdoor tung oil to a picnic table

today:
>killing wisteria by tracing back the stolons to the ground, shaving the bark with a hori knife, and applying undiluted roundup via syringe
>waiting for the shade to cover the picnic table to i can keep applying tung oil

my technique for killing wisteria works great. i've found several vines that i did earlier and they're totally dead

Welp I put up some t-poles and hammered them in. Building a fence to keep out horses from wandering into my yard^garden^work area.
I planted some gourds in beginning of June and they are running vines well.
Other gourds I started at July are doing well, maybe a couple weeks till they start running.
Put up chicken wire fence around the bottom of another birdhouse gourd garden with 12 plants I started 2 weeks ago, just had to make a secure place to put them in, 30x30' with field fence. But I have cotton tail bunnies that run around my 3 acres. My 3 dogs are always chasing them, sometimes they get one and bring it home and eat it.
So yeah. Got a nice 15x30 dense-grow of corn squash sunflower and beans growing nicely, healthy.
I have some melon seedlings ready to plant maybe tomorrow with some more corn and sunflower and beans. Fixed some ground yesterday

pulled in the last of the garlic for the season. teh dregs were all that were left and the garlic I left in the ground from last year. kinda neat seeing how the old head's cloves all became their own heads. diminutive little guys but still, garlic is garlic and this cost me 0 effort.

based anon, looks like hardneck? i mostly killed weeds today. got rid of a bunch of wisteria, took down 2 rose of sharon trees, foliar sprayed jap knotweed, pruned an oak tree tormented by already-killed multiflora rose. i also planted a cinnamon fern and two purple coneflowers, and selected a location for the anise hyssop and second bee balm

hardneck indeed. once you have had it, if you can grow it, i am convinced it will become a staple crop for even the laziest /out/tie.

your day sounds more productive than mine. rain rolled in shortly after pulling in the dregs. i 3d printed and worked on an Private Hicks from Aliens cosplay til sundown. not too bad.

Yes, his channel was called welfare wayne. I assume he deleted the channel himself based on him being burnt out. I don't know of any other accounts or an archive so it's one of those things that is lost in time. I miss seeing him post on here, he kind of reminded me of forest anon in that way.
