What can be done to preserve and restore our native ecosystems in North America? We’re less than a decade away from becoming just another Europe ie no natural beauty left, no old growth forest, everything being developed to hell and back.

In the meantime do not allow ecological conservation to become a faggy liberal talking point. Concede both Conservatives and Gay Communists agree with respect to conservation. Unfortunately the best tool we have against allowing state sales of valuable ecosystems are litigious. Be aware of proposed state logging sales, speak at public comment, donate money, time, and energy to private law firms suing the state to prevent these sales. Join your local conservation groups - Trout/Ducks/Elk Unlimited. Meet people, plan, discuss efforts to preserve habitat. Remember - the state sells public lands to make money and spending money to fight over logging sales in court cuts to the quick of the issue. If the logging companies are so great at forestry, let them manage the forests they already shit all over 50 years ago.

I don't know, maybe go start a logging company and hustle for government contracts for fire mitigation. About 2/3rds of the forest in my state need to be thinned and allowed to burn for the next generation of trees to take root without destroying the previous. I can't be the only person who realizes these apocalyptic wildfires are nature pressing the reset button on the tree farming practices the logging companies left behind 50 years ago.

Trees are a renewable resource, so don't so anything silly to protect them. There's no reason to start spiking trees at risk for logging years before any plans even materialize. They'll just grow back :^)

Ecosystems aren't static. If you leave a meadow alone it will eventually be replaced by trees.
Forests/woodlands are shitty because it's a symptom of neglect. Look at pic related. It's just a bunch of stunted trees with invasive stiltgrass and barberry, its basically what every forest in the mid-atlantic looks like. It has no ecological value.

In the past you had fires and large animals managing things and keeping it from being too overgrown. That shit about the squirrel traveling across the country without touching the ground is false. I got a plant identification app and more than half of the species I've scanned by the trail have been invasive. Also logging and tree farming can cause EXTRA BIG forest fires, also also logging companies like to plant genetically modified or non native trees in tree farms.
