I know most plants I see hiking, including scientific names, families, and (often) the etymology of the scientific names. I primarily hike for fungi/plants/animals/geology. I am trying not to be bitter like OP but whenever I have the misfortune of stumbling upon any kind of local hiking social media stuff I want to kill myself.
