What are the logistics of moving from the United Kingdom and building a cabin/house in Alaska?

well for starters it's almost impossible to legally move to the US now because of the orange asshole unless you're rich. but luckily canada is just right next to alaska so you can just move there instead. you're a western euro tho so you're in for a rough surprise since you have no idea just how rough living in the new world is.

Second this. Go live in rural BC. Seems like the best combination of interesting and accessible. Moving to Canada should be very easy for OP when it comes to the legalities. Otherwise, he's probably fucked since he's never touched grass; hard to get a license to do that in the UK I've heard.

Well, if you have the funds to buy property you can do it.
Also prepare for the coldest, sharpest winters you've ever had. UK can get cold. But Alaska? Oh fuck you're in for it.

Unless you have some very specific life circumstances, it will be difficult if not impossible for you to move here. The biggest two factors will be: degree/major, and what is your work field/what kind of experience do you have?

I'm doing a 2 year BTEC course in engineering. I don't have any work experience yet but I'm going apply for some jobs to save up for over the years so hopefully that will be adequate.

step 1. get your ass to alaska (ideally in the spring)
step 2. dont just treat it like a vacation, network the whole time and try to get a job that will sponsor you, meet with an immigration attorney, maybe look for a green card hoe
3. failing that, try to go to a local university in alaska
4. failing that see if you can explore some cultural or alternative visa to expand your time so that you can do more of 1-3
5. wait for your visa cooldown to reset and try again or…
6. live like an illegal, but this is kind of a bad idea

Best of luck, you’ve got a leg up just on account of being visa free. also you’ll need a fake itinerary probably to make it through an adversarial customs interview. it doesn’t need to be perfect but you should be able to say what hotel you’re going to and what nearby nature you’re going to see (and have a return ticket)

That hasn't worked in years, if it ever did at all.

It won't really help your citizenship the way you think it will. You will be here as a student, nothing more.

I also want to point out that immigration attorneys only help so much. You might be paired with one for years, I've seen a couple cases of over one decade.
