For what I remember I used a cheap digicam set to b&w, slightly overexposed, reduced the contrast and slightly added some blur in post.

Recently I've been playing with high iso on cheap digicams to give more of a impressionist look (I think noise and primitive noise reduction is causing this). Then adjusting in post (contrast, adding grain etc). You just have to experiment. The hard part is finding the right subject.

You can choose pictorial images to shoot yourself or buy to decorate your tarpaper shack with. All ideas that have existed still exist, and any that don’t you can’t know about.

I agree overall but you are incredibly wrong here. So much art and thought is lost, as in if not completely destroyed then relegated to utter obscurity. Wikipedia, as massive as it is, has far less than 1% coverage, probably far FAR less, and that's not counting prehistory.

In this situation yes. Lomo Metropolis is rated anywhere between 100 and 400 ISO. I didn't give any indication to the lab and I suspect they developed it as ISO 400. It also helped that it was a foggy morning.

Pic related is the same film, and the weather was warm and sunny.

Well if you look into it, pictorialism was kind of all over the place (the constant was a dreamy/memory approach to composition I guess) so I would say that the ones in the thread qualify.

But anyway, printing I think its a very important part of it because they were also experimenting with different processes, not only "traditional" darkroom.

I'd argue it's more philosophical than just aesthetic; most pictorialism sought to emulate paintings with no regard for "photographic purity." A part of modern photog dogma is this purity; to most, the brush tool in PS is cheating and wrong. f/64 was a reaction to "cheating" we still can't shake, this thread included. Just printing isn't enough, you have to print in the sense meant by film photography; dodge and burn, heavy manipulation, and painting.

I think it was because the film might have been re-spooled. This particular roll was Retocolor Aqua, but it had an odd number of frames (27) like some Fuji disposable cameras have. And the strip was consistent throughout the whole roll.

i made a little hole in some foil and stuck it as close to the sensor as possible and it works kind of like a fisheye lens. it looks stupid but it works. I need a tripod

I'm a bit of a sucker for taking photos like these. Look back at them a lot expecting them to be cringe shit but often find them a bit charming I guess, feels like when the sun is just down on a cloudy day.
The textures digital noise can bring out are cool, its interesting that I can take one with certain settings and it looks like nothing and then hit the sweetspot and it's suddenly a lot more interesting.
I just use a pixel 4a with opencamera to be able to adjust the ISO and shutterspeed, but I'm considering buying a early gen M43 (crucify me) because they're super cheap, I hate adjusting stuff with touchscreen and it'd be nice to have a bit more breathing room with fl quality.
