Why does carrying around a camera suck so much? Am I doing something wrong?
The problem I have is that the camera is always this irritating foreign object dangling from my body. When I carry it over my shoulder, it keeps swinging around, annoying the fuck out of me. If I shorten the strap so it's less annoying, suddenly it's so short that I can only hold it, like, four inches from my face, which is even more annoying. What the hell do I do? Just use pocket cameras like my GR II? Anything I have to carry on a strap literally gives me high blood pressure from how irritating it is while walking around.

Get an easily adjustable strap that you can change length so you can use it in the same way a modern adjustable two-point rifle or carbine sling is superior to the old webbing or leather ones - zip it down for carry and then loosen it off as you bring the camera up for shooting. You can also tighten it back down a little to give you a little extra stability.

I have picrelated right now. Similar to the Peak Design strap, but about half the price (you could call it a knockoff). Still very high quality.
What kind of strap do you recommend that's even easier to adjust? My issue with this is mostly that the adjusty-bits are in very inconvenient positions when carrying the camera over my shoulder.

I use a couple of PD straps and I like them but I more meant the general category than recommending anything specific. I set all mine up so that the the adjustment clasps or whatever they're called are in the right position - they're not even from side to side but I can get to the one on the side I adjust very comfortably. Might be worth playing around with it and seeing if you can reconfigure yours?

I use a peak design magnetic wrist strap. Works extremely well for shorter jaunts. Anything longer then I use the Black Rapid shoulder harness thing. I can hike for hours with a telephoto lens on it and be comfortable. Pretty impressive.

I just hand hold my camera with no strap when shooting like >>4406388 But have a Seventeen Hip Pack from Herschel Supply Co. (pic related but different colours) worn cross body to put it in when not actively shooting.

Camera slides in and out quick and easily. I usually leave the pack unzipped, so it's not much difference in speed when taking shots compared to a strap around my neck, but significantly more comfortable and no dangling.

Would definitely recommend some sort of small cross body bag or fanny pack. Get a wrist or hand strap to go with it if you're not comfortable raw dogging the camera.

get a blackrapid style strap like the other anon said. it bumps on less things, less visible overall when not in use, and it's a lot easier to steady/keep safe when needed.

but putting on the sling strap can be a bit annoying. otherwise, get a sling bag and a smaller/simple strap overall and get better at quickly taking out and putting away your camera.

I stupidly put my capture clip on my backpack upside down so I did about 4 hours of hiking around yesterday just holding my camera. I don't think I ever put it in my backpack. It was a DSLR-style mirrorless about 1kg in total weight, never bothered me at all. (I will not share photos because none were good, I have yet to take a worthwhile photo in 2 years).

If you're carrying a camera it should normally be in your hand. Why carry it if you're not ready to shoot?
If it has a strap I wrap it around my hand.
If you're hiking with a backpack then the PD capture clip really is peak.
If you don't have a backpack then the capture clip on your belt is max-dad-mode.
In reality I normally march around with a the camera on a tripod and hold it like a rifle when hiking.
On holiday I just use a shoulder strap but carry the camera in my hand.

I either have it in my hand for a photo or it's in a sling bag, having it on a strap looks and feels awkward. I only ever see boomers with them on straps these days, most people seem to go with a wrist cuff for when they're taking photos and then just put it away when they're done for the moment.

>>4419434
Tasmania looks like that? What the fuck, though I suppose I shouldn't be surprised since there's the Otway Ranges and Yarra Ranges in Vic which look close but not quite the same.

>>4419518
Not him obviously but Tasmania has a bit of an odd thing about people that aren't from there, so you might not fit in. I know a few people that lived there and they all said the same thing. If you want a similar look, you could probably check out the far East side of Melbourne towards the Yarra Ranges, you'll also be able to go to the alpine areas and get some nice snowy photos.

Optical zoom would be main one, higher shutter speed the other. If you're just taking wides at high F, can get the same with a phone. It's just a role people pick to play. Like, why bring a skateboard? Because you made skater your RP character. Your thing. It just annoys me though, when the cheap camera guys get gear envy. Like they're stuck with a small penis somehow. You weren't born with a small sensor/lens, you can buy a bigger one. But yeah, I feel you. If you're just going to cope about getting an image, "it's not the size that matters its how you use it," why not just use your phone? Why even buy a camera.

Feminine: Will anyone care?
Masculine: I like this.
Feminine: What will other people think of me?
Masculine: I think this is neat.
Feminine: Ugh, they're standing out... dont they know no one cares? Fucking weirdo. If I talk to them I'm going to tell them no one likes them and they will never have sex.

Easy. I just donโ€™t strap cameras around my neck. I use a wrist loop (or pocket it, if the Z7) and anywhere Iโ€™m going that I donโ€™t want a camera dangling on my fingertips or in my pocket, is a place the camera doesnโ€™t belong, so it doesnโ€™t go there.

Based and spot on. There are too many girly "softboys" and other feminism/longhouse victims in today's society. Look, that guy acts like a 16 year old girl who's angry at herself for thinking the guy with the sportscar is hot, LOL.

This is the original, I'm using a knockoff. Never had a problem with it except that the knockoffs are uglier.

What strap distributes weight enough to comfort my weak beta male neck, while also not looking gay, and maximizing my strong alpha male macho man larp? I see a lot of 2" straps on amazon, but they all have girly designs on them. Do they not make wide black nylon straps?

Carry it crossbody, like a messenger's bag. And get a smaller lens too. That's how I solved it. Yes, I won't be able to take some shots but I no longer care.

If you don't like carrying the tools of the trade maybe you should take up crochet or something
