I know this sounds stupid but does anyone ever feel like they run out of places to photograph around them? I might be falling for the trap of needing more and more exotic locations. Have you ever had to just appreciate the mundane shit again?

I live in south florida and the average location here is an 8 lane road with strip malls on each side which looks like shit. Or suburbs that can sometimes be ok but lots of time they're boring.

Normally I'd recommend going back and practicing your fundamentals, work on your composition etc. then look around with more experienced eyes, but yeah, that kind of locale is a fairly shitty environment. Have you considered maybe trying something like kite aerial photography? Sometimes a completely different perspective can give a new appreciation for old subjects.

No I meant like an actual kite. Personally I find that having to fiddle with and account for so many different variables that are completely alien to normal, linear photography can take my mind off of worrying how good the shot's going to be and just enjoy the fact that I took a picture at all. Plus even if nothing pans out and all you get are more shitty salt marshes or whatever, at least you're still flying a kite. Which is its own kind of fun.
(Pic related but not mine)

What are you photography for? Who is your audience? Take pictures to your people and show them.
I suffer dysthymia and have similar feelings.

Now imagine for a second that you live in the countryside in the northern parts of this planet with its limited amount of light most of the year, where things are grey year round except for a few months, it's cold, little to no infrastructure while you sit on a Senegalese horse breeding forum reading a post from a guy about running out of locations to photograph in Florida.

I wouldn't mind trading locations with you for a week lol. I think it's possible to get bored anywhere, some places might take longer than others. Any way I went out to take pics today because I don't want to just have a shitty attitude.

South Florida has beautiful nature and interesting people
While the landscapes will get old fast, the animals and people will not
Try out different subjects for sure

>Live in South Florida

Hit the beach, the strip, everglades or swamps, go to a lake. I'm surprised you can't find anything to photograph if you're in Miami.

What he said, you want to have nothing to photograph? Live somewhere it hurts your face to stay outside and everything is grey for 4 months of the year.

I'm not in Miami it's like an hour away depending on traffic. I went today picre. It was the last major city I didn't hit and I can go a few more times for sure. I'd like to add that I've taken a few thousand pics and have hit up most of the major areas it's not like I just started and I have no clue what to do. Do you guys reshoot the same places multiple times? I'm not trying to be a big baby just wanted to see if anyone else felt like this

I would say that this is one of the most commonplace advices in photography. You have to learn about your environment to get the most of your composition skills.
