I’m finna do before and after fights portraits of fighters at some ufc type event.
Picrel is my light gear.
I was thinking of putting each lamp on one side and give it hard lighting (a bit like the portraits shot by Martin Schöller)
Any tips, recs or suggestions?

Just experiment with different two-point lighting techniques, if you have a reflector even better. As for the Marin Schöller technique it looks like something I'd use for a corporate shoot, not UFC fighters.

Thanks for the rec! My thought on going for the schöller look was to make their battered faces be more visible. I’m afraid that softer second light and shadows would hide some of that, no?

Thanks, I'm not super happy with the results since the goal was to have a before/after the fights and the differences aren't as big as I had hoped, I agree with a more dramatic light, would of worked better
Also as you said, some have weird postures or pot bellys since I didn't direct them at all
The few beers and joints didn't help either during the rush of shooting them
