More immersive than 2D photos but less immersive than videos. Afaik there is no way to see them with the wobbly effect outside the Apple ecosystem (Windows or Linux) yet and there is only one Canon camera/lens that does it yet.

AR/VR as a whole is a decade away from being good. AVP image quality looks worse than even a 720p display at normal viewing distance since the PPI isn't nearly high enough for how close the display is to your eyes.

You can look at spatial photos on flat screens, it has NOTHING to do with VR. https://x.com/ianzelbo/status/1932182329306595340

>is apples ____ format worth getting into?
as always, no
heic, prores, nope, nope and no. nerds job is to convince you something meaningful has changed to get you to buy a new computer/phone, assuming the self destructing macs did not do that first. can you believe people fell for this shit?

Even with okay hardware, Applel still finds a way to ANNIHILATE image quality via software, while promising "trust us bro, this is better!" lmfao

The iPhone is the worlds most popular camera. The worlds most popular camera takes ONLY VR photos beginning next fall and this feature is propriatary locked in into the ecosystem without any way to experience it fully on Windows, Linux, Android. It cannot be exported without stripping the VR effect from it.

This is huge. Why does nobody seem to care?

yes and it isn't exclusive to iphones. all cell phones rely on tons of computational photography to overcome tthe tiny sensors and shit lenses. and it's baked into the imaging pipeline, so even raws are molested. remember that thing a while back about samsung phones hallucinating a moon where there wasn't one? yeah, that's the cell phone industry in a nutshell.
