I've always wanted to complete a book. I don't wish to sell it or market it in any way, just make them for myself and for my loved ones and kids to physically have in the future, and hopefully give to their kids. High quality photo paper, cover, spine, bindings. Like a custom printed 10 count. Are their publishers that do small, personal batches?

You'd need to pay someone a very large amount to do that. Just get the prints from China, they're high quality, bind it yourself.

I'm not really talking about shutterfly or vistaprint etc., im talking about a publisher that lets me change every single little detail physically, sends me demos, lets me try out different materials for the cover and different types of paper. I basically was curious if that was an option because i want a more intimate, detailed experience than you would ordering a custom photobook that you designed off mixbook or something.

I suspect you'll have to do the legwork yourself on that

Start searching for small publishing houses. Local would probably be ideal for what you're trying to do.

well then you have to be good enough to publish. It makes not sense if you just want it for yourself and your family

No publisher is gonna give you that much of their time unless you're good business, like maybe a thousand copies or more.

Jared Polin (yeah yeah yuck it up) recently did a big full spread photobook which honestly looks pretty cool. he had to use some botique high end artbook publishing house in italy and had to kickstart it to afford all the custom shit he wanted. it sounds exactly like what op is looking for. Not cheap.

Damn, i just looked at the kickstarter. Looks like this level of involvement and control would cost too much.

To redirect the thread, whats the best online consumer photobook publisher in terms of quality?

I guess there's no "print on demand" for photobooks then?

ai is for nihilists
>bro what does it matter why have "values" you get likes and dopamine or u dont
and nihilists are obligated to kill themselves

photography is for people who value things and believe there is meaning and purpose in life

hope this helps

Album99 from Nations Photo Lab is the best budget option for something like this. Not bespoke, but lots of options. I've ordered a few dozen and always been pleased with the quality.

doesn't cost no $35k. it'd run you back 2-2.5k for a handful of copies in europe or north america. that cost would probably be 60% less in china
