Why are zoomers so obsessed with le lofi shittiness when they weren't even alive for it
It's so fucking dishonest

Their lives are so devoid of meaning and connection that they desperately clutch to anything that makes them even remotely feel something. The aesthetic suggest a better time gone past, a world they will never experience. Itโ€™s nothing to do with the subject or the act of photography itself.

It's not dishonest. When everything is shit and lo fi people want sharpness. When everything is hyper sharp and digital people want something with texture. It's simple

So is an rx100 for the same price and exponentially better quality, so itโ€™s not just the form factor thatโ€™s contributing to the โ€œfunโ€, because itโ€™s the same as old digishits. โ€œMuh funโ€ is reductionist to the point of it would have been better if you had just not said anything.

photography is an analytical art form
every successful photographer to date has been a huge gearfag

if you're about "intellect and the human spirit are polar opposites" (africanized culture) then feel free to check out and head over to /mu/ to play some blooz, or splatter shit on a canvas to represent your emotions

Neither do the zoomzooms doing it for โ€œfunโ€, so it hardly seems like taking good photos is anything to do with the point.

The point is to use a camera that provides a look and feel that you want. A different camera provides a different look and feel. It's not that hard to understand

It's digital. All lesser cameras are subsets of superior ones for small sensors to full frame and then it only gets fucky with medium format because it's so extreme. You can take more photos with more looks with a better camera by taking away all the extra niceness in post.

Or maybe your hobby is playing with different cameras instead of taking different photos

I, for one, like taking things apart. I'm no electrical engineer, and old stuff is easier to reverse engineer and mod. Old manuals usually even have full circuit diagrams and maintenance guides. Plus, analog electronics have the benefit of being able to touch random wires together and it just does fun things. Plug your camera into a speaker? Sure! Filter your video signal through some guitar pedals? It just works.

Also, clarity is overrated. I've never really looked at a painting and thought to myself, "man, I wish this had less brushstrokes". I don't think photography should be any different. Why would I want my photos to look real? I want them to look like photos.

Gen Z hardly has the guts to tinker with anything. I've seen absolute shock from people when I take something apart that I just bought. Another time I took a grinder to a phone case and the level of disbelief was hilarious.

You say that, but the synth scene is bigger nowdays than it really has ever been. Don't forget that much of GenZ are in their late-20s. A lot of kids who grew up in the pro-STEM culture of the early 2010s have since been disenfranchised by the hard U-turn the tech industry went through and flipped from engineering jobs to making technical art and NFTs and shit.

normies have been latching on to aesthetics without stopping to consider their meanings for time immemorial. also,
>the questions inherently posed by attempting to capture the modern day through the lens of the past or to find reflections of the past in modern times are meaningless
pseud. you think with your emotions.
