What's the best way to start a career in photography? I currently take photos as a hobby, but I decided to turn that into a profession and been looking to expand my lenses collection as I currently only have a wide-angle zoom.
Is it better to fill my needs with "cheap" lenses and then upgrade later on or just buy a single high-end product as a high-stake investment to match other photographer's inage quality?

It appears to be to difficult, as I'm not aware of having direct connections with the CIA.
What does it have to do with photography business though?

Have friends.
I got started by taking pictures of friends for their events -- maternity, family portraits, etc. It wasn't long until my friends' friends wanted to get their pictures, too. And wasn't long after that, that I had to start raising prices to filter people out. And wasn't long after that I was able to quit my day job (still work part time for a reliable paycheck that will at least pay rent/food).
If you want to really go pro and make good money in the industry, go to business school. Go to lots of parties and meet a lot of people and fuck a lot of girls. If you get anything better than C grades, you're focusing too much on academics, go party more. Don't give a crap about the degree, even drop out. The point here is to meet a lot of people. Eventually those girls you fucked will be calling you up later to take their wedding photos (I wasn't that chad, but the most successful photographers I know are actually in that position), and you'll be getting flown on vacations to exotic locations for a variety of different shoots. The chad I just mentioned was just in Indonesia last week doing corporate headshots for some overseas investment team.
