They're still interesting to read, but not very relevant, no.

My AI prompting can do more "digital darkroom" at a fraction of the cost & time.

Zoomers, I know you think irony is funny and "just vibes are for cool people, effort and carign are for incels" but eventually everything you surround yourselves with is dogshit, you end up depressed, and your generation is the most depressed and suicidal in history. Pixel peeping boomers were several orders of magnitude happier than you and did better photography than the zoomer peak - trashy direct flash snapshits of teenage girls - to boot (they did sophisticated direct flash snapshits of adult women, yknow, with pubic hair)

The zone and composition aspect are, also the dodge & burn if you actually edit your photos.

Very interesting at least. I loved learning about camera movements for example.
The zone system is still useful and the methodology is somewhat valid for digital. Adams was really trying to teach a scientific approach to exposure, and the discipline that goes with it in terms of visualising the output before taking the shot. Also the concept of photography as a transformation from 3d to 2d space by the photographer as an artist.
if you understand ettr, and have a printing workflow first and then read the trilogy (plus 2 sequels about lighting condition) you will get more out of it.

I didn’t even know there are the 4th and 5th books. Is there a reason they only reprint the first 3?
