Currently have an Olympus EM1-III and while I enjoy it, the small sensor feels like a burden. I was thinking of migrating to Pentax, who have similar durable bodies but larger sensors. The problem is something like the K3III is still only APSC and costs 3000
What fuckin do?

If you're starting with a new system entirely: why not Canon EF or Nikon F? I'm saying this as someone who shoots Pentax. A K3 Mark III or K1 Mark II is $1800 brand new, $1200 used, but has the performance of a $4-500 Canon 5D Mark III/Nikon D810 if FF, or Canon EOS 80D/Nikon D500 if APSC. Those older Canons and Nikons are great products on their own too in terms of build quality/longevity, look at the amount of Canons and Nikons with 100k+ shutter counts.

The good Pentax lenses are $$$, more than Canon or Nikon because they don't sell and cost the same new. So unless you're comfortable owning a bunch of 80s-90s Vintage Lenses (which is fun too, but you can do the same with CanoNikon). It really only leaves you the colors (which are great) and ergos as a reason to choose Pentax if you don't already have a bunch of lenses you like.

Does Canon or Nikon have the durability I want though? I want to get a real sturdy camera to take with me literally anywhere no matter the situation which the EM1-III seemed to offer
A lot of gear offerings are for day street or studio memes

If one breaks buy another with the money leftover.

Canons and Nikons have gone to Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times, and there's a few people that blogged about taking their 5D to war. Even pic related is a Sony A7RV that if /p/ has you believe will fall apart if you take it outside.

Modern cameras are usually sealed ok, just check the lens you're getting has sealing. Oly, Leica and Pentax are the best, but modern Nikon and Canon are also about as good now. Sony is the next level down. I'd just pick based off lenses.

The good Pentax lenses are cheap af. You can get both a 43mm and 77mm for ~$400 each. These are often considered the two best Pentax lenses out there.
What you obviously mean, is that the lenses designed according to MTF and aberration standards compared to contemporary lenses are $$$. But high MTF and aberration correction doesn't mean good unless you're shooting images of test charts.
Where Pentax lenses excel isn't taking perfect pictures of test charts, it's creating aesthetic af images.
Modern lenses from other companies are good at 200% zoom. Pentax lenses are good at "print out a picture of a family that will make the client smile with admiration every time they walk past it" % zoom.

Consider K-70, KF, KP, and K3ii, too, which tops out at like $600. They're all still great cameras.

no, the good pentax lenses are not "cheap af"
the serviceable lenses that all brands made back in the day are "cheap af"

The good Pentax lenses honestly weren't even good compared to Nikon or Canon of the same time period. Best vintage 90s lens is probably the Canon USM series and honestly in lens stabilization works better for long focal lengths than IBIS

Thousands of associated press agents take sony cameras to warzones and protests every day.
Thousands of agents working with getty take canon cameras to warzones and protests every day.

Who uses pentax? Youtubers who talk about the way their consumer technology purchases make their skinny glasses and pyjamas wearing asses feel?

You are on a board for such youtubers. They tell you sony is worse or canon is worse and you should go with some out of business/failing literally who because they NEED to believe it is worse, or else they regret their camera brand nerd decisions even more.

Stick to cameras, your analogies are stupid

You cannot start a racing career without being groomed from elementary school not different than any other athlete. They do karts and will get scouted once they turn teenagers by professional teams like Andretti Racing, Red Bull, etc.

Semipros just like the photographers you mention run literally ANYTHING that gives contingency (aka: it pays for their racing career, just like Sony/Canon give photographers working for Getty or AP free cameras). Mazda for example hands out contingency money like candy. So did Mini and Dodge at other times. Racing is expensive so those manufacturers handed out contingency to lure professionals into running their cars and also would build their cars to fit a certain class (IE Base model Minis for H Stock SCCA)

Amateurs like you or me (yes YOU) run literally anything they like unless it's a spec series where the car they can enter has to meet a certain class. Nissans are used very very often in amateur motorsports (drifting and time attack) but when they had contingency money through Nismo and factory efforts outside of America (think Australia Bathurst 1000) you saw stuff like Skyline GTRs and Pulsars being raced by professionals who were getting paid to try out the new untested cars over Holdens and Fords. Just like a Pentax shooter is using his camera to shoot photos.

Tldr cope

Congratulations on finding a pic of a user-damaged camera from the brand that is #1 in FF market share. The shutter dust cover feature allows careless users to destroy their camera because shutter blades are weaker than sensor glass. I can google for Z8s and R6IIs that were broken in the same fashion, and even find cameras without the dust cover โ€œfeatureโ€ that were broken when someone took a dry brush instead of a wet swab to their sensor

Your analogies suck and I accept your concession.

You are not a professional shooter just because you bought a Canon/Snoy, and the professional shooters get their cameras for free just like pro drivers get paid to race. Just like you would be shilling Dodge Neons as the best car ever if Dodge paid you $1000 for every race you won. Everyone else races what they like.

Can confirm, I am a furry undertale fan, and I main pentax. "Models"? As in, women in skimpy clothing? Pass. There's over 5 billion women on earth. How trite is a photo of a mere woman? How many times do we have to paint these generic slags and photograph them, pointy elbows, mustaches and all? Give me a martlet cosplayer with a good quality partial feathersuit instead. As a pentaxian I am more inclined towards such intellectual, creative, and esoteric pursuits than towards the basal and ape-like behavior of pornographers and other rubes.

Apparently, snoy boys think sony cameras being the most used in the porn industry and low tier news and wedding "photography" is a "win", and pentax being used by eccentric intellectuals to transmit artistic ideas is an "own". Sad!

It is an actual burden. Between sensor size equivalence and simple technology quality, ISO 1000 performance in broad daylight is a crime. HDR stacking is basically mandatory, but not feasible, especially if you're doing handheld panos with sky. Sony controls the m43 sensor supply and enforces this limitation, otherwise m43 would perform on par with APS-C once given proper ISO 100 sensors, and possibly surpass APS-C.
