>>4448841As I said, I don't feel comfortable sharing my pictures with anyone. Kinda gay, I know.
About the site, I'm making my own even though I'm not too good with development. Gemini is doing most of the work and I'm just giving instructions and troubleshooting, vibecoding at its finest.
But there are a lot of WordPress themes that you can just download and configure for your personal preferences, birdsite.jp or minimalio.org are some examples that I know of. The worst part is managing the database, but there are a lot of tutorials for that.
Then you just need to follow a basic tutorial on installing MariaDB, Nginx or Apache, PHP and WordPress, and you have a site. If you buy a domain and open your ports, you can access it on the internet, otherwise, it'll just be on your local network.
Hardware-wise, a Raspberry Pi will suffice, or an old laptop. If you don't wish to dump all your photos in raw format, SSD (or SD card) speed is more important than size.
Of course, if you open your site to the internet, you'll have to worry a bit about security and ongoing maintenance (making sure that all software is up to date). But it's not that hard and you have a lot more creative control and freedom than when using social media.
