Hello I bought like 8 years ago a Pentax K5IIs, along with the included 50-150 mm lens. I started getting into photography and then stop, I want to get back into it as I already have the camera, ,but would it be worth getting a Sony mirrorless fullframe (like a cheap a7 II) or just sticking to the Pentax.

this board is full of autistic neo nazis who hate buying nice things because the jews/lgbtq/blm are somehow associated

try asking reddit instead (they will say yes, the a7ii is a better camera than the k5ii, because it is. reality has an anti-4channer bias.)

Make a trip or whatever, bring the Pentax with you and find out what focal lengths you tend to shoot and be most comfortable with.
If you're still happy with the experience, stick to your K5IIs and buy a fun new lens with your preferred focal length. If your photos look like shit or the shooting experience was bothersome, then consider changing cameras.

Definitely no, especially not an a7II. All mirrorless and all Sony cameras suck more or less, but a7II is one of the suckiest of the lot.

Yes

How about a sony a6400? I am reading that sony generally has access to better lenses, and I'm worried that the dslr world will crash soon

When asking this question keep in mind whether or not the person answering it has a life, has lost their virginity, has a job, and whether or not they hold insane political/conspiracy theory views

Yes, a sony a6400 is better than a pentax.

Sony = normal person camera, good all around. It's like buying a windows PC or a mac.
DSLR = autistic person camera. usable for some niche professional jobs but mostly preferred by autistic losers.

Wrong
DSLR has a valid use as a poor person camera
A $200 canon DSLR will do everything you need for normal photography

A $200 DSLR will take worse photos than a decent phone

ILCs are all autismbait, normies just use their phone

a decent phone doesn't have the glass or sensor doe, the shittiest kit lens mogs the fuck out of a phone's optics

You can buy a 5D2 for $200 nowadays and it will shit all over every single cell phone you can supply including 6-lens Hyper AI Upscale Turbo nonsense. Fuck off with your inane bullshit.

Just use what you have for now. It's good enough. If you really want to keep going for a few more years then buy something new. Every other anon is wrong

you don’t want to get into photography again, you want to buy more shit. if you really, sincerely want to get into photography, use your Pentax and for the love of all that’s holy stay away from this place.

>thinking it's possible to take good photos without the latest camera tech
lol If you don't have a camera and lens made in the last three years you are wasting your time. Sell that Pentax crap to some boomer and buy a new kit. You'll regret it if you don't.
