These are pretty good travel pics anon. I would have gone a little warmer with the edit but that's just me.

Saipan, a bit like Taiwan but it's Burgeristan

thanks anon, still new to color grading so i’m still playing around with stuff - noticed alot of people nowadays like warmer casts but i wanted to represent the sunny days as i saw and felt them

now the cloudy days were a bit more challenging to edit ngl, couldn’t decide on a color cast that would have been appropriate, but thanks, at least i have an idea now of what to experiment with next

never been to taiwan, but alot of the urban infrastructure is very american

endless strip malls and long straight roads

somehow i think making turning down exposure and accentuating shadows on this would have worked better. posting this now as i don’t have access to original file at the moment - what do you think

t. not used to taking abandoned building photos

there’s a shrine in town, Katori Shrine located inside a park dedicated to the “Sugar King”, but no Japanese around - the torii were made out of concrete

I am super fucking jealous OP, I have been wanting to do a tour of all the Pacific islands we raided in WW2 shits on my bucket list, I wanna do it before we reclaim them all for upcoming WW3 with the Chinese.

My father visited Saipan and a few of the other islands when he was stationed on USNS Observation Island as a civilian radio operator and telemetry tech while we were doing the SALT and SALT II treaties with Russia, they would wait out in the ocean for the Russians to fire their missiles into the ocean and OI would track them to verify they splashed down and were destroyed. He also went to Tinian where we staged B29s to drop the atom bombs on Japan, he has been to one of two remaining open bomb pit sites, he did the one on Tinian and I've been to the other one in Wendover UT where we did all the testing for the bomb up and to the nuclear fissile material and modified all the B29s used to carry the bomb called Operation Silverlight.

Lots of history in Saipan, glad you got to see it. Images are pretty good too.

interesting thing was speaking to those who lived there, they liked how the northern mariana islands had less of an active us military presence compared to say, guam

quite a contrast to how important those islands were during wwii

American cars really ruin the vibe.

since Saipan is part of the USA, there’s all these rental car services with Mustangs all in fun colors like pink and teal to cater to the Korean/Chinese/Japanese tourists; I suppose it’s a way of experiencing Americana

with such little space, i'm glad there's still space for farming - most of saipan's food has to be delivered from outside

i'm running out of (interesting) photos to post, so i guess i'll leave the thread be for now and answer any questions you guys have about saipan. might pop by and bump with more photos if i find anything interesting left to edit and post

i would highly recommend you go to Saipan and the rest of the Northern Mariana Islands, though earlier in the year (January-June), where you'll miss the typhoons and bad weather

thanks again /p/ ^_^

interesting tidbit: some anon posted a while back saying that if you use a zoom lens you're bound to use both ends of the focal range more frequently; guess anon was right
