Hijacking this thread. I want to make an origami gift for my kendo sensei. How hard would it be to make the sword or the helmet out of paper? Are there any diagrams out there? I can do simple stuff like cranes and such but don't have the experience to try to design something myself.

You can't just unfold and refold one sheet forever. The paper will eventually break down, rip, or just lose any stiffness whatsoever and become a limp rag. Some models will also be complete shit if you do this.

Just buy your own paper, which is relatively inexpensive, or use old paper that was previously printed on.

i was a father once. my kid wasted tons of paper drawing and coloring doodles, including my signed rx paper (im a doctor). i used to yell at him for wasting those.

after the divorce, he went off with its mother. now he's a videogame artist and 3d modeller.

I grew up in the 90s/00s and small arts and crafts were common but even then the fact that I was folding paper in school bc I was bored was bad like I was bored, that's bad. Been doing origami since I was 6 off and on. I stopped doing origami for years after my grandmother yelled at me for saying "it's like I'm god creating stuff!" after making an origami deer.

I quit origami for a long time after that, but I got back into it.. I can't find the book the deer came in now. It was a very nice model.
