Alex Padilla came and spoke at one of my classes back when he was CA Secretary of State. He talked about how his mother had been a cleaning lady, I guess to boast about how he had humble beginnings. When I heard this, though, I couldn’t help but wonder to myself: who the hell would think it’s a good idea to let the children of menial laborers run the state government?
