If it were the plaps the plane would still takeoff but it would need more speed and longer distance down the runway. If you want my expert opinion it was most likely contaminated fuel or FOD. But if you look closely at the video taken from the airport you can see some weird happening to the engines just before he rotates.

However, it can't maintain a steady pitch without flaps, and it loses the ground effect. The pilots rotated the plane at the end of the runway, and it became airborne. In the video, you can hear the engines working until the crash, but there was no lift, and it looks like they stalled

The take-off run vid is too grainy to be sure, but someone pointed to that between the 20sec to 26sec mark, of flaps being retracted, but I can't really affirm that as the image quality is too grainy once again...
