Especially in "counter culture" types.
I think of some groups like the satirical Church of the Subgenius who were supposed to be lighthearted and satirical, funny and taking the piss at everything.
They became such lameass political-obsessed people that it is a bummer to be around them.

Sometimes you think people should know better but something happened to them and they bought the bullshit. And you become disappointed in them but move on.
