Am I the only person who finds Freemasons to be extremely pathetic? They have the morals of the Mafia and the spiritual depth of a self - help book. Most of them joined for social mobility rather than any other motivation. Really smart and/or educated people, or genuine do-gooders, have no use for this phoney brotherhood.

The problem is that the people can be just as fucked up as any other org.
I haven't paid dues in a couples years because I was in a rough situation for a little while. My dad passed away and I gave up my live to be close to my mom. None of them called to check in. The only time I heard from them was when they wanted me to send my dues. The cost isn't that big of an issue, I'd happily pay what I owe now that I have it. But, they've added like some kind of interest on it that now they're asking for twice as much as I owe.
Even though I could pay it, why would I want to? I don't get any benefit of membership since I had to move and none of them even cared.
