>>507229700 (OP)35-year-old Officer Jonah Hernandez of The Las Cruces Police Department was murdered on duty by 29-year-old Armando Silva on February 11, 2024 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Armando was shot and killed on the scene by a random civilian.
Around 5 p.m. a 911 call was made regarding a man trespassing on a business in the back area. The trespasser is identified as Armando. Click here to see the many police officers murdered on and off duty.
Officer Hernandez responded to the scene and approaches the suspect. Armed with a knife Armando then runs at the officer and stabs him in the neck and head multiple times.
Blood splatter immediately is seen coming from Officer Hernandez’s body. The officer can be heard gurgling in his own blood, and unable to speak.
Armando is heard asking nearby people if they want to go down next. An armed civilian identified as Issiah Astorga, 29, then shot and killed Armando. Prosecutors decided not to press charges on Issiah.
Issiah and another man then ran to Officer Hernandez’s aid, but the cop died on scene. Officials said Armando had a long history of violent crime and mental illness.
