Stealth =! invincible. If an F-35 allowed a F-14 to get close enough, it's very much outmatched by that ancient fighter. The F-35 is probably configured for maximum stealth, which meant minimal weaponry in its internal bays, and if it was a ground strike aircraft, then it may have been relying entirely on escorts for defense. The F-14 wins that fight every time.

It would be extra hilarious if the first F-35 kill went to an F-14 of all things.

Why not?
Just unlikely.
But if it flew close then there's no reason F-14 wouldn't be able to shot it down.

F35 is meant to be sneaky and shoot from afar. Get too close, get detected and it's fucked. It's not a dog fighter, it's a stealth fighter.

I'm talking about the people and why so many joined the resistance. Germany may have attacked due to the British coup but when German troops along with their Austro-hungarian and Croatian lackeys started marching in Serbia you had record breaking volunteers lining up to fight the invader.
You didn't have a deal like the Croats, Romanians, Bulgarians, etc had with a vassal leadership but untouched civilians.

The Germans were so damn retarded in Yugoslavia and USSR which is why they lost the war. There's a reason why the French had so little resistance fighters per capita compared to the Balkans and eastern Europe.

Germans somehow managed to fumble Ukraine of all places where they were indeed greeted as liberators by a shitton of people just to end the war with 7 (SEVEN!) million Ukrainians joining the Soviet army because the krauts were actually very serious about their Lebensraum project which is an incredibly judaistic ideology

You really haven’t figured it out have you? Stealth fighters come in low because long wave radar detects them perfectly well and allows for ambush SAM usage. So the stealth fighters come in low and fast to minimize engagement provability. It’s why we don’t see videos of F-35 high altitude bombing runs in any theatre so far. Which ironically means we’d have been better off buying a lot more 4th gen’s instead of the f-35.

People are so shocked by this but they shouldn't be. The f-14 is still a flagship fighter that is pretty much toe to toe with the f-15, it was decommissioned by the US because the f-15 could do everything the f-14 could do but cheaper. The f-35 is not a flagship fighter, it's basically the new f-16, primarily made for ground strikes but with more stealth. In a dogfight an f-35 loses to the f-14. The f-22 is another story since that is the new flagship fighter meant to replace the f-15.

In short, the f-35 replaces the f-16. These are primarily ground strike aircraft.
The f-22 replaces the f-15. These are primarily interceptor/dogfighter aircraft.

One was operated by the US Navy, the other one was operated by the Airforce, the fate of one wasn't influenced by the other at all, the 14 was actually replaced by the F-18 Super Hornet, since it could do most of it's roles with 80% efficiency or better for half the pricetag and mainteneance hours
>These are primarily ground strike aircraft
>F-16
Burger please, the F-16 was a venture into multirole with dogfighting specialization, it was the first aircraft to be made naturally unstable to increase agility and also the first to use digital FBW controls (The 15 had a hybrid analog-digital system) just for that, it's a monstrous dogfighter for it's time

I couldn't concurr to what you said more than I am already ... !!!

Sadly, greed might play a big role into the ordeal you just described...

But to emphasize more on the most important part of your post, I'd say that Vought with the Iconic F4U CORSAIR and their F8 CRUSADER just to name a few, being as old as 1917, and North American with their Most Iconic P51 MUSTANG, plus the model you described, to finish with the Republic Aviation Valkyrie....
The biggest shame is that they thought that merging corps, or giving more subsidies to competitors would surpass what they had in the first place...
A rich groupment of corporations each having their own views and designs rivalling for the best performances...
Instead they headed toward a monolithic mindset of design as displayed by the latest project contestants.... YF-22/23 & YF32/YF35 to name just a few...
Guess the F47 being handed straight to Boeing will avoid such things but given the current context, who knows when the first flight will happen...
Boeing... Another gem that went overboard in the last decade at bare minimum...

It's one more reason to observe Politicians with "a special eye" and most of all, to never trust them because the only inclination they have, are with themselves, and not the betterment of tech marvels from a purely technical aspects, nor even the living condition of the people they were appointed for...

PS: Picrel is a treat for your eyes and a reminder of the beautifull era of shortening the world via tech development / aviation incremental perfectionment ;)

Lol, the F-14 is technically an interceptor not even a fighter and it shows, it was notoriously a bad dogfighter with it's underpowered TF30s until they got replaced by the F110-GE-400 derived from the F-15s, would lose all it's energy within a few turns and be splashed, it's strenght lied with the all-might AN/AWG-9 which was a monster for it's time so much so it's still somewhat effective even in the modern day, as for the other two the only one i can agree with is the F-22 as it's a 2d thrust vectoring aircraft with a lifting body type, the F-15 was made as a pure air superiority but it's primary strenght lied in the Radar comparable to the F-14s, of course due to it's high engine power it can keep energy and fight pretty well but in a pure no missiles 1v1 i'd wager it'd lose against an F-16 60-70% of the time, the 16 is just much more agile due to how it was inherently designed while the 15 is the last "classicly" designer fighter in many ways

Also do note that this was probably a long range interception so dogfighting capabilities don't even matter that much

Yeah i think that there's just not that much money anymore to prop up so many gigantic tech corpos, if you notice even American car companies closed down a lot of beloved divisions like Pontiac, Mercury and Oldsmobile

I mean, during the Vietnam war there were at one point at least a dozen if not more different aircraft fielded and a lot of them were conceptually very similiar role wise, F-100, 101, 102, 104, 105, 106, 111, Crusader, Phantom, A-3, A-5 and i'm probably forgetting at least a few, it's just more efficient nowadays to trial but a few projects and to grab the one that does everything you want the cheapest, and that's how you get sham trials like the ATF program which was obviously won by Lockheed mostly due to connections with the political class at the time, also the bad publicity that McNamara ran throrought his time as a politician i guess

It's very funny it got to the point that even you Frenchies had a shot at the F-14 title with the Vought 507 "Vagabond" co developed with Dassault Co, it's a shame that there never was such a vast amount of projects here in europe

>Vought 507 "Vagabond"
Oh wow ! Nice ! Thank you very much, I didn't knew about it at all, even though I knew about the Mirage G with swept wings, but that is a great inception into the program that lead to both design/development... :)

But yeah, I can understand the fact that having an homogenous fleet would be more "money savy" than having an etherogenous one like you described during the Vietnam era for example, but it is just from an accounting pov and not from a tactical/strategic pov...
I would tend to give the benfice of the doubt for the operational pov too, of course, as it means less spares/parts/ different maintenance specs/practices etc, but from a tactical pov, having multiple specialized/ultra-specialized aircrafts; given that the sheer sums of money needed to support them are not a "problem" as the MIC doesn't look away from enormous amounts, and the US usage of printing for their "defense" purposes is not a problem; would be a really better approach I'd say...
At this time, we have a lot of "multirole" A/C, but they need a huge organisation/support to operate accordingly, ie needing a other aircraft aloft in support, wether for radar, air defense or other types...

I understand the evolution of the arms race in Aviation, but the philosophy have changed so much, thinking about it make me understand that it is difficult to compare what was before then now...

PS: To bad the V-507 didn't went to the skies as it is a sweet looking birds...
The story of the Avro Arrow is also one disapointing one...

And as for the Mc Namara thing, I must confess to you that I absolutely don't see what you're refering to... If you have some qrd or link for me to read/learn more about it please ? I mean, I guess what it convey given the context in which you express it but appart from that, I don't know about it...

Just a little snipet from the Vietnam War era...
The Phantom F4 didn't have any canon at the time because it was the myth of the "end of Dog Fighting Era" due to "missiles era being memed into oblivion" so when they lost quite a few against older generation Migs in DF, they swiftly reassigned canon into the F4s...
I was strucked by that upon learning about it...
You just can over anticipate your "era"
But I must reckon the Missile tech at the time wasn't that neat and to lock a target was a real pain due to a long period of target fixation to launch a "probably hitting" missile...
Not even speaking about avoidance maneuveurs from them...
Just a quick thought re-reading your post ;)

TLDR: 1st gen F4 didn't had onboard Canon...

>At this time, we have a lot of "multirole" A/C, but they need a huge organisation/support to operate accordingly, ie needing a other aircraft aloft in support, wether for radar, air defense or other types
Yeah, but even then they are mostly variants for already existing craft, so a lot of mainteneance knowledge, spares is still shared, even then it's easier to have 1 multirole that does bombing/penetration/interception/dogfighting supported by an AWACS than fielding multiple for each and still neede reco on top of that, then you have to factor in time and mainteneance difficulty, during wartime it's easier to jug around just one set of tools and material to fix 1 type of aircraft, have 1 set of mechanics that know every bit of the airframe rather than have to specialize then because you're fielding 2-3 different aircraft, it's just more efficient even if 10-15% possible performance is lost you gain immensely in other ways
>Mc Namara
US Secretary of Defense, big fan of the F-111 and hated the Tomcat from it's inception, he's the reason the original 14A had the TF-30 engines from the F-111B, there's lots of stories about him being a dick to aviation companies, ultimately though it was Cheney, one of his successors to fuck up the Tomcat completely and write off the Advanced Tomcat plans to focus on the Hornet/Super

Yeah the tech just wasn't there at the time but the Phantom in of itself was very ahead of the time, it's primary adversaries were Mig-17s and 19s with a few first gens 21 which were notoriously quite shite due to low engine power and terrible gun, so as long as it was fielded correctly it was quite untouchable due to the (comparably!) much powerful engines and it shows because even in the early war it kept a positive K/D ratio despite all the bad stories surrounding it, i feel like most of the problems of the Phantom's performance were born due to inexperienced crews fielding Mach 2 aircraft, you have to remember that most had just moved in the underpower Mach 1 capable F-100 only 4 years prior, which was still primarly a gun based dogfigther, they had no practical experience with missiles bar the few that transitioned from 106 programs, doubly so with the Navy which went directly from subsonic to supersonic with the 4 and the F-8 Crusader

Yeah, you're quite right and I totally agree with you on that...
but reading that makes me think about the Mig-29 example were the Russian designed it with its engine to have a life time of around 300hours of operationnal flight during wartime...
It was simpler for them to build/rebuild 29's engines than to have to practice maintenances tasks every few hours of flights...
Plus, their reasoning was that during wartime, a Mig-29 would likely be shot/put out of combat around after 300hours of combat...

It all boils down to scalability and logistics when you think on a larger scale...
So yes, what you said is spot on, but I am still wondering about the Ultra-specialized vs Multirole (albeit various adjusted versions of them) A/C's...

Because there are so much pro's and con's for eachothers, but I might have a little bias for wanting to witness newer designs / disruptive designs like it was the fashion back a few decades ago... ^^'

Yeah, they went from theory to practice in no time onboard a completly different aircraft as you described...
They perhaps had not enough training prior to deployment, but the fact they reacted so quick to the lack of cannon is something to remember in term of "Agility" from an institutional army... Am wondering wether they'll be able to swiftly adapt today to a challenging situation as they did back then...
But yes also, the Russian were a little bit trailing behind in term of perfs for a while with the 21's lacking power but soon corrected it too... Although they kept the design for a long time and many versions too while the US was trying to disrupt the designs...

Yeah, the F-35 takes a lot from older projects, as you mention the Yak 141 later in your post, did you know that Yakovlev sold the engine designs to Lockheed back in the 90s to receive more funding to keep the project alive? if you see the engine blocks of both aircraft they are very similiar including the transition between VTOL and Flight mode
>"missile paper thing..."
It was even worse, government directive that said that due to the introduction of long range missiles aircraft had become obsolete since anything could just be shot down via ground based Radar and at best they could just be used as missile carriers, hundreds of projects were shelved due to that and the British Electric Lighting was only allowed as a pre-cautionary measure, but kept vastly underfunded, then when they realized their mistake they quickly bought out the Phantom from the Americans along with the Naval Rotary Gunpod

Yeah, the Raven (EW) or Aardwark, what a nice aircraft too !
Cold War era planes were top kino all around, you must have had a blast touring it and experiencing the sim too !
Especially if you were as young !

Cherish those memories mate !
You'll forever be able to roam around/inside and feel like you fly it too with a little bit of imagination !
Vids can help too eventually ;)

Cheers Amerifren !

Let me clarify the three aircraft I mentioned it being an AI hybrid of. It has an F-16 fuselage, an F/A-18 tail, and JF-17 cockpit and nose. Not to mention the terribly shopped roundel on, again, the wrong part of the airframe.
For reference, pic related are Israeli F-35s. Note that the flat area around the rear area around the tail in that pic doesn't exist on the actual aircraft.
(I will continue to take your bait for the sake of any newfrens in this thread who might've been fooled)

The whole point of the F-14 was to have a big airframe with a lot of power so it could carry any missile it wants no matter how big and could carry whatever radar you could want to put into it, so I could totally believe one with an upgraded Russian/Chinese radar and missiles could have a chance to hit an F-35. The F-14 is much faster than it after all so it could catch up.

The pic with the odd rails and fins was the first prototype of the F-14 so it probably had all sorts of strange things on it. I ran out of F-14 pictures but I can find some more unrelated images in the ol' historical folder.
Side note, an image with the F-14, Mirage, and the KC-10? Saved.

I don't give a shit if "the bad guys" have them now.
I love the F-14 and I'll stand by whoever has the most of them.
We should build more. Fucking jew politicians need muh tax dollars so they can pretend their bill updated the military and they did their job so they can keep sitting at a desk doing nothing. Fucking faggots.
