It's same shit as with railguns - it's not that the tech doesn't exist, but rather the energy sources for those weapons are bottlenecked. Hence again, it is a physics limitation, not a technological advancement limitation. We literally need to discover entirely new materials to develop this tech, and mass-produce those new materials cheaply enough - and that's unlikely to happen any time soon. You can shoot down a hypersonic missile (if very lucky) only when you position your sub-sonic interceptor missile directly in the path of that missile. But for that you need insane levels of planning, calculations, and early-warning.
