I traveled this 'country' extensively in mid-2010s.
The whole country felt like two distinct flavors of limbo. The French one stuck in the 80s and the Dutch one stuck in the same late 80s but a tad more 'progressive'. Both had a very certain charm, very vintage feeling if you might, but with a certain hint of 'dread', also the country was very rundown.
Oh wait, there was also Brussels. But we don't talk about that. Never. Avoid that place at all costs, I don't even want to know how it is 10 years later today.

We enjoy fries, owning Europe and quite literally being the biological masterrace.

The entire country is staggeringly full of Arabs and Africans and it gets worse the further south you travel towards France. Africans at least work but like 90% of the Arab migrants are here just to collect the dole and ship more of their family in. Lots of them, including Ukrainians, do not speak a word of Dutch or even French despite living in Belgium for 5+ years.

In general though, the Flemish zone is economically productive and has a very good quality of living while the Walloon part is a rust belt with decaying post industrial cities but nice picturesque countryside villages. I have not met too many Walloons but the Flemish are chiller Catholic Dutchies who think that people from the Netherlands are too rude & direct.
