>>507469285It's basically a programable syringe pump, exept the syringe holder is modular. So when the programing is done, i can replace the syringes with micropipettes. Then calibrate, measure accuracy, done. Microfluidic mixer for 150$. The commersial mixer costs 12000$. My country is not exactly swimming in money, so like all things the sciences are somewhat underfunded. Since my PI didn't want to buy the 12000$ ignite, i built this prototype, and later a better version with acme screw replacing the regular screw and pipettes instead of syringes, and a smaller stepping motor instead of the nema17.
Basically it's to make mRNA LNPs.
>>507468960>You should clarify that you get bored with people quicklyThat's not exactly it. It's hard to put in words. If i'm doing something i feel is pointless, i get anoyed. Playing videogames for instance is fun, but it doesn't result in anything tangible. Similarly smalltalk and casual aquaintances can be fun in a way, but it is ultimately boring because it is meaningless.
And i know this is all relative, oil painting is allso meaningless if you think about it, but it results in an increase of some skill, and a nice or interesting object. That keeps me interested and makes me happy. Fucked if i know why i work like this, and i in no way think i'm superior to anyone else. It's jsut the way i work, and i needed some one in my life who is similar to me in this.
My wife is a researcher like me, she too is into weird forms of photography (i'm into astro, she is into macro, and we are both into micro), she too paints, she gardens and even splices plants... god i love that woman. She also had giant african snails, and i have a musk turtle.
