In realith the US did a superb job in defending South Korea; MacArthur turned around a sure defeat into a stalemate (and he could've even won the Korean War if Truman let him), and we also did a good job defending South Vietnam until domestic subversives forced the US withdrawal (and even then the US Airforce could have done better during Operation Linebacker 1 and 2 if they they varied their bombing routes and used exclusively B-52G's.
