>>507492384 (OP)In retrospect, this war was inevitable and should have been easy to predict. Consider all this:
1) Israel knows itโs becoming increasingly unpopular. With every year that passes, fewer and fewer people remember the Holocaust, nor care. Siding with the poor victimized Jews is not only no longer automatic, itโs actually trending hard in the opposite direction, and the screeches of โanti-semitismโ are falling on shrugs and deaf ears.
2) The Trump administration is friendly to Israel, mostly because Trump is a typical old boomer who actually still does instinctively side with the Jews, and his son-in-law is Jewish.
3) Iran is a problem. They are getting closer to a nuke, and at every turn, for 40 years, theyโve been shouting Death to everyone. When people tell you they want to wipe you off the map, believe them.
4) Khomenei is 86. That regime is not popular in Iran. Most of those people donโt want to be fucking Islamist radicals.
You put all that togetherโฆ and if youโre Israel, itโs now or fucking never.
Every year that passes, the public cares less about your cause. The next American administration wonโt be nearly as supportive as Trump will be. Iranโs leadership is old and vulnerable, and theyโre weeks/months away from nukes anyway.
Assessing all that, from Israelโs perspective, this is literally their last window to do whatever it is theyโve been wanting to do, and they know it.
