Sycophantic output is actually a big problem they're trying to work out of LLMs. It's a symptom of a bigger underlying problem with models in that they're designed to answer questions, find sources, etc., but they have access to a large enough network of information that if they can't find genuine data they'll tend to hallucinate or manifest it to give you what you asked for; like that scandal a couple years ago where a lawyer got caught using ChatGPT to write legal briefs for a case and it manufactured non-existent cases and court precedents to give the guy what he asked for.

I've had similar discussions with AI myself but you know I have a sense of self awareness so I don't take an AI for its literal words.
