In this world of technology it would be akin to not being able to read or write

That's hilarious that you think most people are capable of coding. When I went through data structures 65% of the class failed out, it's the weed out course. I've tutored math extensively as well, you name it I've probably tutored it. When I was tutoring remedial math at university for a time, most of those people were so fucked they couldn't even grasp fractions. It didn't even matter if you explained it 100 different ways either, it was like fucking magic to them.

You're like 20 years too late for this opinion. Coding is going to be largely supplanted by prompting.

You might have a marginal higher IQ or disposition to music, but you don't have a systems mind. The problem is you clearly lack the ability to properly understand the underlying problems and their root causes systemically. Most people will never learn to code anything because they're quite frankly too stupid. This is fine however, these people are not useless as the world is always in need to NPC workers for many reasons. That being said, you probably shouldn't make suggestions on what anyone "should" do because from my perspective you suggestion is like teaching some retard remedial math.

Currently, yes. I've tried playing around with Copilot and you still have to hold its hand through some basic errors if you ask it for something it can't just copy/paste from StackOverflow.. Where it's great though is explaining existing code. You can take something nonsensical made by a total retard and it will explain what the intent probably was. Probably because there's so much jeetcode out there to train on.
