i don't think the founders had a problem with kingship. they had a problem with a king thousands of miles away who abused or ignored them. they didn't establish a monarchy here because they respected the form of government too much, and knew that it was based on a divine and established line of rulers and weren't prepared to claim that for any of themselves. distinction without a difference perhaps, but leftoids certainly understand it about as well as rightoids, which is to say not at all.
