I live within a mile of one of these. The parking lot for it is as big as the parking lot for the mall, way bigger than a walmart lot even. I have never once, in my 6 years of living next to this place ever seen more than 2 cars parked there at any given time of the day. I went in once to see if it was even real. It was on some backrooms level shit. No employees to be seen other than one cashier. I went around the store genuinely interested in finding furnishings. Everything there was WILDLY over priced. Im talking cheaper than that cardboard bullshit furniture you buy at walmart, let alone being any better than an Ikea even. I dont understand it even how they lasted this long.

At Home sells cheap garbage for far more than it's worth and have a lot of overhead. There used to be nice interior decoration stores in the early 00's that had fairly nice things for reasonable prices, then they got bought out and switched their products to cheaper things while selling at nearly the same price around 2008ish; or they had their leases crept up and they're gone now. Now there's just retailers selling something at for 10X what they import it for, or very high end stores selling a recliner for $4,000 with nearly nothing inbetween.

Here's the real story, from a liberal news source to boot:
>The voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings are taking place at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, the company said in its statement. At Home's Chapter 11 proceedings come amid a wave of financial turmoil for other large retailers. The Container Store and Big Lots filed for bankruptcy last year.

I don't really understand how bankruptcy works for this kind of company. Does that mean they're gonna close up shop? I liked At Home for going with my kid and buying Halloween and Christmas decorations.

They have to find a way to pay their creditors when they go through bankruptcy. Them blaming it on tariffs is trying to avoid responsibility which is an excuse they can use in the bankruptcy proceedings to defer payment.
