This. My workplace requires that I use multifactor authentication periodically throughout the work day to confirm it is me using the work device. You can only use the prescribed Microsoft authenticator app (as opposed to just getting a text message with a code) so I have no choice but to use a smart phone. As you say, many banks and other corporations require customers to use some kind of authenticator app. We're all getting squeezed.

it can be done if you are a neet that noone needs to get a hold of for business and such. if you are slightly more tech savvy you could run a virtual machine running android to do some almost all the important stuff. the only thing major you really miss not having a phone is google maps.

the real problem is the social effects of not having a phone. if you start telling people you dont have a phone they will either think you are unprofessional and wont want to work with you at most. or at minimum think youre a asocial schizo weirdo

There's no question but that the Normie Hive Mind of Passive Aggressive Personality Disorder is absolutely nihilistically vicious when a Free Thinker dares to violate the strictures of the Hive Mind.

Who knew the Normies had it in themselves to be so brutally vicious?

PRO-TIP: Be the Chad who secretly teaches Stacy how to break all the rules of the Hive Mind.

When she realizes that she's in the presence of a true Rules-Breaking Free-Thinker, Stacy's nether regions will run wet with moisture. She'll be terrified, at the specter of Free Thought, but the insatiability of her arousal will compel her to engorge Chad's thundercock in her birth canal.

Smartphones/Internet have become a requirement to live.
Government requires you pay most bills online.
Many private companies and most large corporations require you use the internet to find and apply for a job.
The worst companies now even require a smart phone for work or an app to spy on you and clock in with. That app records everywhere you are even on days off.

Society has basicly mandated you use the internet to exist.
If you want to see how bad it can get look at China. You basicly need a smart phone and to be in frequently hacked databases to spend money, open your apartment gate, be tracked at all times etc and having your identity stolen is just a normal part of the game you are required by law to play.
A wireless pocket computer the government and employers mandate is basicly an authoritarian leash.
And wearing your leash is not optional.

Sure you can survive without a phone, its hard to get notified stuff but you can always ask someone who take notifications for you (bank and town hall stuff only shouldnt be too much of a burden, I rarely get calls from them). For social stuff you can always use whatsapp/telegram on your computer.
