Are trades a meme
The job market in the US and EU is fucked beyond recognition. In that context, are trades a meme or an actually better option than trying to compete for white collar wagie positions?

trades in Europe are dominated by nepotistic shit heads from shitty balkan states, pretty well cock blocking the locals, some companies have to outright deny foreigners to work for them now as western Europe fucked around and is now finding out.

They make good money for jobs that don't require a degree but on average depending on the trade you'll lose 10-20 years of lifespan, nobody talks about this aspect

Job market is fucked. To start as an untrained electrician, you'll make like 15-18 an hour for 4 years then get a yearly dollar raise. I work finance and earn twice as much as do not have to risk killing myself or have to learn Spanish

>Are XYZ a meme
>meme:
>an element of a culture or system of behavior passed from one individual to another by imitation or other nongenetic means.
Perfect, there's your answer. Trades are passed down by imitation. I can't believe I have to educate children on what a "meme" is in fucking 2025.

Trades are also fucked. Pure Boomer meme.
When the White Collar Jobs dry up, overqualified people flood Blue Collar work.
There is no Economic Solution.

Skilled trades like electrician or hvac repairman aren't too harsh on your health though

In what regard? Do they face the same issues as white collar work or is it different

Less bad but they're still bad, the shit you inhale on construction sites alone skyrockets your cancer rates. Accident rates are high too. It's safer to do a tour in Iraq than work on a construction site statistically.

It depends
Where you're doing domestic? Holy fuck no. It's utter shit.
Business? Not too bad but after 4-5 years of being a journeyman, you want to start picking and choosing your work very, very fuckign carefully so your body won't be fucked

Most of the ones I know either are 50+ and can barely stand or else 30 and coasting as shit like maintence people in comfy air condition offices for much less pay but much less dangerous work in general
or take the pyramid scheme pill and start hirting others and open a business
I have a job that sits on the border of those two worlds and that won't be an easy transition in either direction. Low level white collar jobs are endangered by ai and low level labor jobs are full of migrants.
Anonymous (ID: H79d+RzY) United Kingdom No.507733754 [Report]
Skilled manual labour is in high demand and probably will be for some time. If you're otherwise going to do repetitive, underpaid office work it's a better alternative. Brownskins can do it too but rarely to a high standard and they will never be able to build trust with customers. On the other hand if you're exceptionally smart and adaptable, work in tech and make a fortune

You need someone to do plumbing or be a cook in person. You don't need anyone in person to do your taxes or code

Generally less overall control and safety and people can be an absolute bitch and generally speaking, depending on how bad the person was before you, could make a job much worse
With actual businesses, at least in first world countries, they tend to obey regulations. Homes, not so much since any retard could do work on it

Of course that depends on what trade you want. Something like electrician or plumber = bad idea
Carpentry and making bespoke shit isn't too bad

When you have your own business you can choose but at first won't you just be expected to come along to whatever job your boss is being paid for anyway?

As Keynes observed, there are two types of work. One is moving matter on and near the surface of the earth. The other is telling other people to do so. That is the work that pays. It has been given over to women.

Unfortunately this. If you hate working with people and how disgusting they are though, plus the exorbitant work demands so you have no life, then you ain't cut out for it. It's what's kept me away. I'd do pharma if it wasn't for the fact that I'd still have to have basic experience with dealing with people and their medical issues.
