They already did, it's how Russia was paying for all the Shaheds. In addition to promises for planes which never appeared in full.
The West is difficult to get to commit to giving aid, but when they say they will- they will. Russia makes promises and then finds a way to back out of it when convenient. Which is why BRICS/CSTO will never be serious alliances.

1. There is no military alliance between Russia and Iran, at least in public, unlike with the likes of North Korea and Belarus.
2. Russia is busy fighting an existential proxy war with the collective West already.
3. Part of the problem was the loss of Syria, whose airspace is being used now and where Iran could have intervened and saved the regime, but did not.

Either way, Iran is not facing a ground invasion and currently the only threat is from within. Those bombings on Israel have similar effect there, too.
