I think that there's a fundamental difference in how Jews and Christians interpret the Old Testament.
When Christians read the Old Testament, they see the Jews as the whole of humanity. In the Christian mind, every Christian is a Biblical Jew, and their enemies are those who threaten their Christian communities. Everything is framed with the additional context that God would eventually introduce the new covenant and make us all equals, as He always intended.
When Jews read the Old Testament, they do so from an ethno-nationalistic perspective, seeing themselves as blessed with special privileges that allow them to slay the gentiles with impunity and give each other special treatment.
>the Judeo-Christian mind
