Iranian nuclear weapons would be a stabilizing force in the Middle East and would ultimately benefit the United States by weakening Russian and Chinese influence in the region.

Especially after Russia's failure to support Iran, Iran would resist its influence and assert sovereignty far more if it had nukes.

I agree. America should have sought reconciliation with Iran following the 90s gulf war. We both fought the same enemy, America would help contain future Iraqi aggression so a second Iran-Iraq war would never happen while Iran could provide American military access to the Caspian sea and help control Sunni radicalism in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Central Asia.
