Israel didn't dare make a move on Iran as long as Assad was in power in Syria.

Iran and Russia saved his ass the first time.

He had five (5!) years to regroup, reorganize, and dig in.

He did nothing in that time except make his escape plan.

When the fighting resumed, Syria fell in a couple days. His army inflicted like 10 casualties on the enemy and ran away from every position and every city without a fight. His most loyal hand picked generals wouldn't lift a finger for that loser.

I'm convinced Russia sold him out and basically ordered or tricked him to evacuate. He still hasn't been seen since the supposed evacuation either, so most likely the Russians killed him.

Even if that's the case, it doesn't change the fact that his entire army surrendered without a fight.
It's beyond pathetic.

Also no one seems to care either, that's the first I heard that he's been missing. I thought he was living happily ever after in his Moscow luxury condo.

If Russia did murder him and stole all the gold Assad stole from Syria, serves him right. His utter incompetence of getting his countries shit together means that Russia sacrificed lives and resources saving his ass the first time for nothing.

Iran took a reactionary and defensive approach. They were shitting themselves from the mere idea of the US joining the war. Israel took all its allies in the region, one by one, and then chose the best time for them to attack Iran. No one will ever win a war with this approach.

He fought for his regime and his own interests. The only reason israel didnโ€™t assassinate him is because they know he was a murderous corrupt failure.

He is actually much better than assad. People are more vocal and their voices are heard. Assad would make anyone who criticizes him disappear.
I donโ€™t think israel will let him rule for long. Syria will probably be dealt with after iran.

Can someone explain to me why it's ok for Israel to destroy the capacity for Syria to defend itself from Israeli aggression?
I never see anyone mention this but I'm worried for Syria's future if they don't have the ability to defend their sovereignty due to Israel

At least he's representative of the majority of the population.

Look how everyone here kvetches that a small Jewish minority runs their countries. Syria was no different with a nepobaby dictator from a privileged minority ruling over the majority without their consent.

It's no wonder he got overthrown. Syria had no future with Assad at the helm.

nope. Russia being tired and drained from fighting in Ukraine was half of it and Hamas being nearly dead is the other. Iran's traditional supporters are weakened or dead. Russia would normally be the backstop but they have their own problems. When Putin asked for troops and ammo from N Korea everyone knew it was a bad sign for Russia..

You can't say that he's better than Assad but then also concede he lets Israel destroy their entire military and defense equipment without repercussions. Not to mention letting Israel encroach further and further everyday into Syria territory and letting the worst Salafists act as his security force, who absolutely do disappear people.

Just drag your people through an extra half decade of hardship in a futile attempt to cling to power so you have time to steal as much as possible before running away.

Maybe he should have sold his massive collection of fancy cars to pay his soldiers, the dumb fuck.
