No residual radiation. Everywhere they were "tested" is off limits. Post WWII propaganda of “nuclear tests” is obvious stick houses and miniature models getting blown around with cheap visual effects while the hyper indestructible camera (somehow) survives the nuclear blast and remains completely rigid and stable as every other structure around it is incinerated.

The lack of residual radiation was the first thing I thought of for possible justification for this theory. I'll look into this more.

This is a point, but they could be using something with massive zoom. If there's no zoom then it is suspicious since nukes are supposed to knock out electronics.
