What's the population of IRAN (in millions)?

How many soldiers on the ground do you think the US would need to control IRAN?

* HINT: the population of IRAQ was 30 millions in 2010, and you got fucked and couldn't control the country.

Land war is impossible. Mutts would get nuked. Only thing they can do is a massive bombing campaign and hope the regime is toppled.

Ah yes, a power vacuum in a region full of tribal sentiments and bellicose populations and wide circulation of weaponry, what could go wrong? Kek.
Also the Saudis were quite happy to tolerate Israel as long as Iran and Israel were at each other's throat. If Iran is gone and Israel starts expanding in historically muslim lands like Syria and Jordan even the Sunni will stop acting friendly. Turkey is already seething. And good luck controlling Iran with a puppet regime for long. The first thing any pro-western regime will have to do is double gas prices since the Ayatollah literally went bankrupt over giving people near-free gas. They will remember that for two generations as they see feminism sweep through the country and various minorities chaotically vie for control. A few years of chaos and they will all intimately know why they let an extremist run the place. Because he actually kept shit together.

America would need a force of like 5 million at least to ever hope to control the country.

Remember they sent almost 2 million to South Korea in the 50โ€™s along with another 2 million allies and Korean troops

Can they control the skies? Sure
Can they control the sea? Sure
But thatโ€™t not enough and Iran can inflict a lot of pain which America canโ€™t deal with.
Far more pain that Iraq ever could.

>hope the regime is toppled.
Yeah, they can hope that... except even liberal Iranians hate the US because they killed Mossadegh and backed the Shah who was a dictator.
The Shah was ousted by the people themselves, then the mollahs took over.

Sure, there's probably a good part of the population that doesn't want islamic rules, but it's not more disputed than Trump in the US or Macron in France.

>the population of IRAQ was 30 millions in 2010, and you got fucked
The Iraqi army got completely decimated and surrendered within weeks. That's because being "with the regime" is not an ideological thing, it's a practical thing. It's a solid paycheck in peace time, but nobody wants to be the last soldier to die for a loser like Saddam Hussein. The same would happen in Iran.

> couldn't control the country
That's the grave mistake the US made: To think you can occupy Iraq and turn it into another US ally, but really the country is made up of many mutually hostile factions, religious strife and just plain mental retardation. Iran's support of Shia militias also had a role here. The actual people of Iran aren't anything like Iraqis, but either way the US would do well to not try occupation again.

no invasion is possible with current technologies, period.
the problem is that not even an air campaign style serbia 1999 should be possible. russia and china must at least give iran full ISR coverage, best would be funneling into iran an insane amount of A2/AD equipment.

They don't hate the US to the point where they would side with the regime.

> there's probably a good part of the population that doesn't want islamic rules
Literally most of the country. Persians are not like Arabs, it's by for the most areligious country in the region. If you look at cities like Teheran many people simply don't follow the rules and the regime tolerates it for the most part.

>hamas/houthi mindset
This is 100% an Arab thing. Arabs will rather set their own house on fire than admit they made a mistake. Iran would be a developed country if it wasn't for the regime, Yemenis would still be building houses out of mud and chewing khat all day.
