>>508010435 (OP)I noticed gaining quite a bit of weight after first moving into an air conditioned place in my 30s. Before that, neither my family, nor I, ever had air conditioning. In summer we would sweat hard all day when home or in the car and, I think, this helped keep us all lean. You sweat out a lot of fat when you'd sweating out half a gallon of liquid or more per day.
I wonder what role modern air conditioning plays in the obesity problem. We are meant to be sweaty in the summer, especially here in North America, which is much hotter than Europe (due to NA being such a big landmass and not benefiting from cool nearby ocean waters -- Europe is a big peninsula made up of smaller and smaller peninsulas, so most of Europe stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than most of North America does).
Maybe we need to go back to sweating in the hot months so as to sweat out the fat.
I have since lost all the weight I gained by just not eating much for months at a time, like one meal a day, if even that. So I am back to a healthy weight and am even at risk of becoming quite underweight if I keep not eating, but I just don't have a desire to eat much anymore -- too much stress in my life lately taking care of ill, elderly family members.
