The issue with all these Linux phones is the hilariously underpowered SoC. This time the SoC is basically as powerful as a Snapdragon 865, which while still sufficient for most tasks would be a serious downgrade from my current phone. Using Linux on my PC and Steamdeck is enough for me. I don't want to spend too much time on my phone anyway.

the real issue is users *need* spyware garbage (((apps))) to function in 2025 and most these apps depend on hardware attestation to prevent you from being free.

That's obvious. The idea is that I am not sure how usable a "mostly open-source Debian" would be either. I am not a fan of this boomer distro, I prefer Arch. There are too many variables and unknowns for me to make an informed decision, especially when my phone is barely 1 year old. I don't want to be a cooooooonsooooooooomer and buy a phone every year, especially when my current one has literally no flaws.

No, its a mainline kernel unlike pajeetdroid. Only the userland is "proprietary", but its also just plaintext qml files so you have access to everything. Also you can run any userland you want in regular mainline with ofono. PMOS, debos-builder, plenty of options.

>>508012727
>oh no these qml files are proprietary
Then run another mainline option. Just dont be retard pretending pajeetdroid forks are the only option out here. These have been available for well over a decade. Even just mainline with ofono.

That cpu is decent for SBCs but bear in mind even the pi5 struggles with 1440p video.
These SBC chips lack a lot of the QOL improvements that mobile chips have Iike NPUs and video encoders/decoders.

I can't see this translating into the mobile phone space very well especially given that they're claiming it can be used as a desktop. Android phones can already do that via DeX or equivalent or via Termux without the downsides of a rockchip SBC cpu.

to be fair, I'm pressing X on this one
sure, nice proposal, but I do not see the EU rejecting the espionage / data era
in fact going after the social networks was due to them not being let in on the data being collected and because they wanted access, not because they wanted to stop them for violating privacy laws, lol
besides, the trend is to ask for atrocious amounts of data, for banks and stuff like that, imagine how much whining those companies will do because your phone is open
by the time you're done implementing their requests, the phone ends up just like an actual android, lol
I have had a delivery company application close on me complaining that it will not run on "rooted" phones
