They claim Israel can read anything on Whatsapp. So now Iranians must delete Whatsapp, form phone, otherwise Israel will see it.

Iranian state television has instructed residents to delete WhatsApp from their smartphones.

WhatsApp has disputed the claims, with a spokesperson telling Time magazine the Meta-owned platform uses end-to-end encryption and does not track precise locations, keep messaging logs, or provide bulk information to Israel or USA.

The episode comes at a time when Iran is simultaneously experiencing a "near-total national Internet blackout," according to NetBlock.

The disruption follows earlier partial outages amid escalating military tensions with Israel after days of missile strikes between the countries.

Meta HQ has an Israel division and they hire of a ton of people who have experience working in Israeli intelligence. Even if they aren't deliberately sending intel to Israel (i doubt this), it's entirely possible for their Israeli employees to send data or implement backdoors into the software.
