>cancer causing
False. The only type of ban that is being reversed is the wide ban on Chrysotile which is used for industrial purposes and as brake pad material. Biden banned it before the EPA concluded its study on exactly how carcinogenic those uses are, and it has been fine to use for decades without issue.

Trump unbanned it and the EPA will conclude its study before we either allow it or ban it for good. The problem is "trust the science" only applies to forcing people to take the covid shot.

What is wrong with allowing the EPA to continue its study to see if it can be used?

Chrysotile really isn't that bad. Your body can slowly clear it and mesothelioma is pretty rare even in high-exposure populations.
>t. read a shitload of cohort studies
Amphibole is the scary shit. I suspect that have it in my wall plaster because it has vermiculite, most likely from Libby and therefore contaminated with amphiboles. It's hard to find any info on vermiculite plaster which is weird considering how many people tear down interior walls you'd think it would be a pretty common exposure source.

it's already known, in general. they wanted to study this exact, specific material, surely for reasons of facilitating some kind of corruption.

the people who got sick from asbestos worked at indoor factories where the asbestos fiber dust was swirling around everywhere for their entire shift, day after day. it was never dangerous to people using the products or even installing them (unless they were huffing that shit for fun after cutting it up). it was always about manufacturing being dangerous. once it was discovered there were all kinds of solutions (dampen it!).

Asbestos is perfectly fine when it is used correctly. In it's friable form (sprayed as insulation, made into brake pads that turn to particulates) it is dangerous.

The reason is because the substance resembles glass shards that have barbs, so when these particles are inhaled, they become lodged in the lung tissue and each breath wiggles them, preventing healing. So you eventually drown in your own fluids.

When asbestos is mixed with other substances that fixes it, it's an excellent insulator. Like lead, just don't make pipes or eating implements out of it for fuck sake.

Safety guy here
Asbestos is a very interesting topic.
While for the final consumer it's indeed only dangerous if whatever casing, cover, paint or sheet the asbestos is covered in, when released it can not only affect the final consumer but anyone cleaning it.
Also there is the strong argument that those who extract the mineral, refine and produce the asbestos products will be highly exposed to it.
Just "unbanning" with without major reforms in the safety regulations for the mineral extraction, processing, manufacturing and home building will just turn everything back as what it was and cancer will spike.
There is also the other valid argument that some asbestos alternatives like fiber glass and similar can also produce cancer in the same way and at similar rates as asbestos because of their physical properties and how easily the sharp particles can permanently stick into the lungs. Still, their production is somewhat "easier" to control than what it was with asbestos.
Asbestos is still used in heavy industries, or this is for more bestos in industry? its so then it's fine, so I don't see why would they want to bring asbestos back for consumer products when there is no really any need because we have alternatives now that some don't have any risk.
Given the burger track record and their cardboard tier housing, I dare to say that they won't be deal with a new wave of asbestos in their homes. But hey, whatever kills the goyim faster is good ln (((their))) book.

Belgium as well. It's asbestos paradise. Everyone and their mom was installing cheap asbestos roofing & corrugated sheets up to the mid 90's.
My garage roof is asbestos, my garden house roof is asbestos, my house roofing is asbestos.
They actually detect asbestos particles in the air decreasing since the ban 30+ years ago, but still all over the place.

It's actually illegal for solar panel installer or any roofing jobs in general, to work on a roof with asbestos. But nobody gives a fuck, I installed solar panels a few years ago and they didn't give a fuck, even fixed a broken panel for me.

it's also dangerous to drink water, in sufficient quantity.

the reason asbestos products were banned wasn't because they were dangerous to consumers it is because they were dangerous to MANUFACTURERS. Think about the factory producing these things in 1950.

Once the problem was understood simple solutions were identified. It's not even dangerous to manufacture with asbestos now. As such there is no reason to ban the products.

fully twenty years ago I worked with a large law firm that handled cases for this topic. in the process I learned quite a bit about the science and money around it all.

the industrial products that "cause cancer" around the 1970's/1980's are invariably made by highly profitable industries that were ripe for legal claims that would pay out. these products were demonized for profit and control.

the health risks associated with them are extremely manageable and typically far overstated. you can prevent disease if you know what causes it. prior to knowing the cause, there was no effort taken for prevention.

That's right! This is why the legal cases happened and why so much 'mesothelioma' stuff is known to the public generating the fear. Manufacturers KNEW it was unhealthy and this practice made them legallly liable a few decades later when the mood changed around workplace safety. They were targeted because they had the cash to pay out fat settlements. The same was done with dry cleaning, tobacco, and a few other industries.

Turns out, of course, that once you know asbestos is dangerous you can just change how it's mixed into the product and that risk disapperas.

Asbestos has myriad excellent use cases for which it is far superior to alternatives. The PRIMARY REASON for the strong bans and excessive propaganda to support those bans is to shore up business for the alternatives. There are entire hierarchies of industry profitting from these alternatives and they are always largely owned by or paying politicians who put those laws in place. This is a classic corruption avenue that has existed for a century.

Further, many of the "safe" alternatives invariably turn out to be just as bad for health 20 years down the road. The answer to learning that these things aren't actually dangerous enough to warrant the ban isn't to be like "oh well we don't need it anyway." Figure out why something that didn't need to be banned and demonized was banned and demonized, or forever remain a slave.

>so they could see it in statistics before modern computers
that's not actually impressive.

again, once asbestos was acknowledged as dangerous ever could be taken to make it LESS DANGEROUS. you don't do that until you know that it is dangerous. in this particular case the industry knew it was dangerous and DID NOT TAKE THOSE STEPS, which is what gave them legal liability for issues that resulted (that and not warning users, although that part was dubious because they often did).

Again, the precise same pattern played out in multiple industries over the same time period. It was an operation. It was not in the interest of public safety it was using public FEAR (see: miasma) to drive policy/profits/power for someone.

Ah yeah ok, I better understand your take !
Thanks !

And yeah, the associated risk for asbestos are mainly as some anons already said earlier ITT
Same can be said for insulation asbestos material, it was the best material to protect from fire at the time, still is very performant, but when it degrade and become powdery, it is also becoming a health threat...

But as you said
>industries that were ripe
Combined with greed law firms smelling tiny drops of blood and feasting on the wound only to enlarge it as in
>demonized for profit and control.
Can only cause mayhem without regards for any health prevention techniques/practices/warning that came really later.

And as for
>health risks associated with them are extremely manageable

One of the most raging story about this type of thing I've red about in the last years was about the famous American "Red Jerrycan" company that manufactured the *green metallic" ones during WWII, that had a huge lot of lawsuits becasue people were stupid enough to not respect basic safety measure such as:
-Not pouring gasoline over a slowly mouting fire in a barbecue
-Not pouring gasoline into a lsowly mounting fire in a garden-bush-wild herbs fire
-etc
That ultimately led to serious injuries or even somethimes death because people would use their red jerrycan and just pour some fuel into a slow/little fire to "boost" it, and then kaboom/burning
Lawsuits were about the "safety of the Jerrrycans", they had to redesign them many time, lawsuits after lawsuits, for which they were found guilty "of course" and ultimately, they had to close the company from what I remember...
I was saddened to read such thing because having grown with these around me, it's like if a "little member" went away thanks to the utter stupidity of others, or worse, lack of self awareness/preservation...
But thanks for your answer nonetheless !!!
Cheers !

Plumbers in Norway never got any money,
You burgers think everywhere works like the USA.
I don't think car mechanics got any either.

That said, the production line at the local parquet manufacturer all died before retirement, because nobody knew that dust from oak and tropical induced lung cancer in ways dust from pine and fir did not, and they blamed it on smoking so the factory did not have to pay compensation.
The firm survived and still make parquet but in a dust free environment.

banning it is moral panic. it may have made sense fifty years ago. things have changed dramatically since then. Notice that I am not telling Norwegians how to run their shit, yet you are here telling us we cannot run ours how we want. If we recognize that the bans on these products are legal catastrophes and want to remove them in order to clean up our regulatory environment then we are free to do so without asking the opinion of Europeans who are sad about their plumber grandpa who died around natural life expectancy.

The shilling by retards has gone too far. Asbestos is a useful material, but without proper maintenance you DO end up breathing it in all day long. It cannot be used in infrastructure and housing as is or even mixed with anything that becomes brittle with time.. You can absolutely use it as insulation by wrapping it in layers of other long term materials, stabilisers and foams, but even that needs to carry clear labeling and be ready to maintain. It's only worth the effort in particularly cold areas or sensitive industrial settings. It's probably for Greenland

All inhalation does damage, it's just that it takes a lot to actually kill you.
Also there isn't a reasonable way to make everyone dealing with it wear a respirator. Every tradesmen, construction, and demolition crew is going to be masked up? Yeah right. The entire point of this move from Trump is cutting regulations they obviously aren't going to require employers to provide respirators.

What's next, dumping more PFAS into the rivers because occasional ingestion has almost no effect? We need to destroy public health and the ecosystems to truly MAGA!

I mean, it depends. My grandfather used to sift through Asbestos and he died at age 80 from .... lung cancer. Aside from that, though, he had like three heart attacks before then.

I think it really depends with Asbestos, some people die, but others live. Is that really a risk worth taking, though?
