Because George Lucas was smart enough to base all of his character of the archetypes. So he just mixes different archetypes and gives them their natural arcs. And people naturally want to stitch them all together. But the reason the archetypes resonate with the human mind so well, is that they are likely the stories of the old gods, our ancestors who used to rule over us and have left long ago. Humans grew up with the mytharc for thousands of years until it was integrated into our genetics apparently, going by the fact of it's mass appeal to everyones brains. So Lucas reads "the Hero with a thousand faces" and learns about monomyth and speaks of his quest to create a modern American mythology for American children, and uses the story structure of the old Gods lives, yeah it's going to resonate. Because it's a competitor to the bible in terms of utility in a way. Star Wars does have morality tales within it just like the bible, and the characters lives could be parables in a way. Star Wars is stepped in esoterica.
