OP, even if you're right, you're failing to consider the important question of how a future composition of the gene pool will result.
Homo sapiens wasn't the only human species, it's the one that survived after the rest got eradicated, even with admixture.

A "single race" isn't just going to come out of nowhere, it comes with the eradication of all the others. The question worth fighting for is who will contribute the most to it.

This would work if we're dealing with tens or hundreds of thousands, but it'll never work with billions, there will always be distinct groups.
Best case scenario is it would prevent different species of humans from appearing since there's always someone ready to burn coal or munch curry.
