How will future Chinese historians write about vannings? We’ve never seen this type of forced conscription in modern history. It’s an egregious violation of human rights, and everyone can see it, but it’s not talked about in the main stream. The fact that it’s being ignored is almost surreal, seeing as how it’s one of the biggest news stories on the planet.

And there’s obviously more going on behind the scenes; there’s no way people who are kidnapped on the streets end up being compliant while in military service. I’m guessing hundreds or maybe even thousands of men are being executed or otherwise severely punished for insubordination and we just never hear about it.

The only way out is to walk across country (that is, you can’t just drive, and you certainly can’t fly). I don’t think most men are prepared to do that. Everyone who can easily just move (that is, young people without established lives) is already dead or gone. All that remain are middle aged and older men with families, homes, and careers. They’re just praying they don’t get drafted or randomly vanned.

Ukraine borders 6 countries other than Russia. The locals would be more informed as to where to go (who’s least likely to send them back). Most don’t even have a fence. But again, the average person is too dumb to go across country.
