I watched a documentary the other day on shipbuilding and it was rage-inducing how much French engineering and talent is being applied in China to build these insane ships. They've got top tier minds working in Chinese interests instead of working on French stuff. Its no wonder the Rafale is ass despite the French having every capability of building something on par with picrel.

The one getting downed by Chinese jets was mostly due to Jeet incompetence, the Rafales were carrying missiles with significantly longer range than their opponents, but the dumbasses decided to leave their AWACS at home while the Pakistanis didn't. Modern set piece air battles are as much about the supporting units as they are about the actual planes themselves, especially when both sides lack stealth capability.

IIRC Pakistan's air force actually has more AWACS aircraft than India does despite only being a fraction of the size with a fraction of the military budget, someone over there definitely has a better understanding of how modern warfare works than the Indians do.
